Being a mom isn’t always easy – it’s a roller coaster at times, and not the kiddie version either. But, it’s what I know and love, and it’s what I do best, even when I screw it up and falter so big that I wonder if I will recover. It’s what most of my conversations with others consist of, it’s what I wake up and go to sleep thinking about, it’s how I spend most of my day, week, month, and year after year. I’ve been at it nearly 18 years now, and with the birth of baby #5, I was reminded that even with all of that previous experience, there is always room to learn more, to grow more, to be better and different and exception. Or to just fall asleep as soon as you hit the pillow and hope that the next day is a bit easier than the one before.

And yes, I said baby #5! We are what some would term a “large” family. So be it, we’re large! We are just that much more to love. I’m so thankful every day for my little (or not so little) ones – Hannah, Connor, Dillan, Lucas, and Levi.

But I certainly would not be where I am or who I am today without my beloved James. He’s so good to me and is a great father and provider and constant source of the giggles around here. A lasting relationship definitely needs to be able to laugh at itself all the time.

Our “large family” home is rounded out, or busting at the seams with “The Zoo”. That would be our 2 Pembroke Corgis – Ruby and Casey and our 4 cats – Hazel, Jelliebeanie, Thomas, and Millie. Sometimes, when I talk about crazy, there is likely some part of The Zoo that is contributing to the chaos. It happens.

I am a photographer on a very extended hiatus. While I love capturing other people’s families, I have always been a firm believer in family first. And that means my family. And since my family is growing, photography for others is on the big back burner. I’m not sure when or if I will continue the business in the future. I will always take pictures of my beautiful family though! There are plenty to share!

We don’t have some amazing story to share or a cause to support and I’m not overly witty or a wonderful writer. But I do like to write and I like to share my life adventures and while trying to live each day to be better than the last, to be the best parent that I can be to raise good kids, happy kids, loved kids, I hope that others are able to relate or find something I share to be helpful in some way or that someone other than my kiddos think I’m kinda cool in some way. We all just want to be cool to someone.
